MUSIC will be at the heart of a reopened school in Archway.

The former Mount Carmel girls school officially reopened on Friday as City of London Academy Highgate Hill, a mixed, non-denominational school.

All pupils who join in Year 7 will be given a free violin, viola, cello or flute and receive free music tuition for their first three years in school.

Mount Carmel was forced to close after a steady decline in pupil numbers left a black hole in its finances.
