St Paul’s Road tailbacks are the new norm

14 February, 2020

• I SYMPATHISE with the Liverpool Road Residents’ Group suffering from increased traffic due to the unintended consequences of the Highbury Corner gyratory.

Unfortunately the whole area is affected especially St Paul’s Road where long tailbacks are the new normal. Highbury Corner might now be safer for pedestrians and cyclists but increased congestion and pollution has been the result.

However, the problem lies not with Islington Council but with individual motorists who persist in driving their cars rather than using public transport, cycling or walking.

Look at any queue of traffic in the area and notice how many cars contain just the driver. On side streets notice how many drivers of vehicles are sat with their engines idling.

Climate emergency? Not me mate. Never heard of it.

St Paul’s Road, N1
