SCHOOL’S out for the summer and hundreds of children gathered at an adventure playground to celebrate.

Parents and children alike were invited to the annual play day at Barnard Park adventure playground on Wednesday afternoon where there was a bric-a-brac sale for the parents and bubble-making fun for the children.

The playground, managed by Awesome CIC, is open from 9am every morning until 5.30pm (Monday to Friday) for children to enjoy supervised fun.

Debbie Fitzgerald, who lives in Liverpool Road, took her two grandchildren, Finley, aged four, and Edie, seven, along to the park in Copenhagen Street to enjoy the sun. She said: “It’s been fabulous, all the kids get to be together and it’s a lovely way for them to mix and, an extra bonus, it’s free.”

Lead play worker Becky Pryce agreed that the day was a success and had even brought along three of her young relatives. “I really wanted to promote the importance of play today and it’s been great bringing everyone together. It’s really well attended,” she said.
