TA homes site left to rot

02 November, 2018

• I AGREE with Marjorie Mayo about the shameful way the Territorial Army site in Holloway has been left to rot for years, rather than include a percentage of affordable housing in the development, (Developers must be forced to stick by affordable housing pledges, October 19).

The new owners even have the cheek to have a board outside calling for a reduction in rates on “empty business properties”. Maybe a better idea would be if Islington Council could double the rates for every year a property is left empty.

I also feel very strongly that any new social housing development should include a clause that prevents such properties from being sold to the tenant. Hopefully right-to-buy will end completely once we have a change of government.
