Town Hall happy to pull down ‘community space’

WOULDN’T you think that a church provides a “community space”?

It is, admittedly, a strange description of a church but, I am sure, you understand what I am saying.

Logic, a sense of aesthetics, a sense of the traditions of this country, all point to the answer: Yes, a church is a “community space.”

But our guardians at the town hall in their profound wisdom disagree – and have plumped for a scheme to demolish a church in Regent’s Park.

The Orthodox Ethiopian Church, who are to be thrown out of their “community space” are considering a legal challenge.

Whatever their challenge, there is, in my opinion, a moral challenge to be mounted, a challenge our guardians at the town hall seem blissfully unaware of.
