The highly successful Blowout Sax School in Bath is being launched in London at the Hampstead Jazz Club on Saturday.

Mark Archer set up the sax school in an old tollhouse on North Parade, Bath, some 30 years ago.
Over the years he’s devised a completely original way of learning the saxophone which is fast, quick and enjoyable, opening the instrument up to anyone.

Now the school has more than 150 sax students. It is the most successful public saxophone school in Europe.

“Making music is about finding an instrument that you love and then enjoying it,” says Archer. “The ethos of the Blowout Sax approach is that learning should be quick, easy and maximum fun.
“No musical knowledge is required so students don’t get bogged down in all that notation stuff.
“And we supply a saxophone so you can find out if it’s for you.

“It you want to play the sax, we can teach you the spine-tingling Baker Street riff or the sublime Pink Panther theme in no time at all. Our revolutionary approach brings extremely quick results. Many of our students perform at weddings and/or parties within weeks of starting, much to delight and surprise of friends and families.”

Mark Archer is also an expert for those looking for a fresh start at intermediate and advanced levels, those keen on playing again.

A wide range of styles is taught using the Blowout Sax approach, including pop, reggae, ska, blues, soul and funk.

The London launch of Blowout Sax School is at Hampstead Jazz Club on Saturday, 12 noon. To book a 45-minute session, call Mark Archer on 07866 766133 or email him at The introductory price per session is £50 for a single person or £75 for two people.
