THERE was cake and celebrations to mark 25 years of a Tufnell Park pantomime at a church earlier this month.

This year’s show – a spoof of the cult 1990s film Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure – was the latest of performances by St George’s Smaller Pantomime Company.

Dan Jakob, 61, has starred in all 25 pantomimes since it launched in 1993.

He has also written 20 songs, written eight of the plays and directed three.

On December 8, he was presented an award to mark his tenure with the group.

“It’s been part of my family life and it’s been important for the church as a way of reaching out to young people and to get the community involved,” said Mr Jakob, of Tufnell Park Road.

The Mayor of Islington David Poyser also blew out the candles on a cake made by volunteer Liz Case.
