TWO TEENAGERS have been charged with the murder of a young father who was stabbed to death yards from his mother’s home in Canonbury.
Nashon Esbrand, 27, was found by police with stab wounds in Mitchison Road, off Essex Road at just before 7pm on August 24. He was rushed to an east London hospital by ambulance but died the following day.
Yesterday (Wednesday) Dillon Zambon, 19, from Islington, was charged with his murder. A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also charged with murder this morning. Both are expected to appear in Highbury Coroner Magistrates’ Court today to be formally charged.
Neighbours said Mr Esbrand, a former Central Foundation Boys’ School student, collapsed less than a 100 metres from his mother’s home. He had become a father to a baby girl called Mila just days before, friends have told the Tribune.
Just six days before he died, the proud dad had shared a picture of Mila on social media, captioned: “I used to wake up and not know what I was doing for the day until I had a youth [baby] on the way.”
A 17-year-old boy who was also arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday has been bailed to a date in early October.
A family friend has set up a fundraising page for Mr Esbrand’s funeral costs. Just over £1,000 has been raised so far. People can make a donation to the fund here.
