Two teenagers have been arrested after a young man was stabbed to death in Caledonian Road this evening (Tuesday).
Witnesses described seeing a young man – believed to be a teenager – being chased by other teens before being fatally stabbed near Ladbrokes betting shop in Caledonian Road.
A woman, who saw the attack but wishes to remain anonymous, told the Tribune that the teens then left the fatally attacked teenager outside the shop.
“I am in shock. It felt we waited so long for the ambulance. The paramedics came and then worked on him for nearly an hour but then they put a white sheet over him,” she said.
She added: “It was so horrible. He looked younger than 18 years old.”
Police were called to the scene at 6.49pm after reports of an assault in Caledonian Road near the junction with Tilloch Street. The male has yet to be identified and a cordon remains in place.
Two male teenagers were arrested near the scene and have been taken into custody at a north London police station.
Local councillor Paul Convery, who is currently at the police cordon, said: “This all feels horrifyingly familiar. This area is a hot spot for these sort of crimes. There’s still a body covered here with police waiting for forensics.”
A shopkeeper, who also wishes to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals, said: “I was downstairs when we heard shouting. Someone came in and told us that a man on a bike had been stabbed.”
Football fans leaving the Emirates stadium after the Cardiff and Arsenal game were warned to avoid the Caledonian Road area while the road continues to remain stopped to traffic.
Any witnesses, or anyone with information, is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference 6320/jan29. To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
