A CAT found unconscious at the scene of a fire near Angel was rescued after being given oxygen by firefighters.

The London Fire Brigade said it had resuscitated the pet, named Crystal, after fighting a fire at a block of flats in Packington Square last night (Saturday).

It received 24 emergency calls from the public and had around 60 firefighters at the scene.

“A balcony was completely destroyed by fire and part of a flat on the fourth floor of a six storey block,” the Brigade said. “All occupants evacuated the block of flats before the Brigade arrived.  Crews rescued an unconscious cat called Crystal from the flat and gave her oxygen to resuscitate her.”

It added: “The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
