THE Angel Canal Festival returned this year with entertainment and food and drink for residents to enjoy in the sun.

Regent’s Canal Heritage had a stall at the festival gathering oral histories about the area. They hold exhibitions and events, run youth photography workshops and provide guided tours about the canal.

Passers-by stopped by the stall to read the display about the canal’s 200-year history in Islington.

Ian Shacklock, chair of the Friends of Regents Canal, said: “The event was intentionally dumbed down for social-distancing reasons, and, as a result, a lot of the regular stalls were missing, but I hope that it will be back in full swing next year.”

The festival was held on September 5. Regent’s Canal Heritage are funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the London Canal Museum.
