DETECTIVES investigating the stabbing of a 30-year-old man in Upper Street have charged a man with murder.

Reece Daniel Williams, 21, who is from Islington, was arrested on Friday and has been remanded in custody to appear at Haringey Magistrates Court on Monday.

Marcel Campbell, from Tottenham, was attacked near the junction with Tyndale Lane last Monday at around 6.30pm when the street was packed with shoppers and people returning home from work.

Despite attempts to save his life, he died in the street.

Detectives are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, who is heading the investigation, said: “This was a brutal attack that was carried out on a busy street in broad daylight. I am asking anyone who saw the assault or has any information to contact detectives.

“In particular we would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around this time, who may have filmed any part of the incident on their phones or has dash-cam footage of the incident. Your information could be vital in helping us establish the course of events that unfolded during the early evening of the 21 May and what caused a young man to lose his life.”

Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call the incident room on 020 8345 3775 or contact via Twitter @MetCC or 101 quoting reference 5952/21 May.
