We are hardly seeing a consultation over this road closure
07 February, 2020
• THE Northern part of Highbury Crescent has been closed since October 2014 while it has been used as a compound for the construction works at Highbury Corner, causing considerable inconvenience to local residents.
The machinery and equipment have now gone, so residents looked forward to the reopening of the road. However the council has now closed the road with large planters in order to “obtain residents’ views on the closure”.
We have all seen the effects of closure over the last six years. If the council want an unbiased view of the relative merits of closure/opening, they should remove the planters in order for people to assess the effects of having the road open.
This is hardly a consultation. It seems clear that the council has already made up its mind and is just going through the motions.
