West End set up Elite clash

WEST END FC’s Under-14s team secured a vital three points on Saturday in their quest to chase down leaders Camden Elite in the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League.

The Blue-and-Yellows played out a thrilling 3-2 victory over Queen’s Park Sharks – but it took a stunning last-minute winner from battling midfielder Burt Thorne to settle the tie.

West End twice took the lead with goals from forward Jamie Isaacs, but were twice pegged back by last seasons Division B champions the Sharks.

Just when it started to look like both sides were content with a draw, Thorne thumped home the winner from close range to set his team-mates celebrating.

It also sets the title chasers up nicely for this Saturday’s showdown against rivals Camden Elite, who go into the game a point clear at the top.
