We’ve had enough of their austerity measures

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn
• THE Liberal Democrats continue, bizarrely, to claim that they can win Islington North in the general election, despite the Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, having been the MP for this constituency since 1983 and having retained the seat in 2017 with a massive 73 per cent of the vote.
Regardless of the dodgy polls that have made the Lib Dems a laughing stock, there are enough people in this borough who remember how they sold off council houses and privatised council services when they ran Islington Council.
That was just a foretaste of the destruction they wreaked before, during and after their coalition government with the Conservatives.
In parliament they voted for the “bedroom tax” and against raising welfare benefits; they voted to cut tax for the super-rich and big corporations, but plunged students into debt by voting to triple university tuition fees to £9,000 a year; they supported fracking, the cruel and ineffective badger cull, and the privatisation of Royal Mail.
These are just some of the policies they supported that have done such damage to the majority of people in this country.
Now, despite remain being the Lib Dems’ central (or only) policy in this general election, their leader Jo Swinson has ruled out supporting a Labour government led by Jeremy Corbyn but seems happy to support a Tory party that, under Boris Johnson and Dominic Cummings, has undermined democracy and tried to force through a Trump-deal Brexit.
Islington voters are not stupid. We can see through their fake statistics and we have had enough of Tory austerity facilitated by the Liberal Democrats.
So I hope most people in Islington North will once again go out on December 12 to vote for a highly respected, hard-working and visionary candidate – the leader of the Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn.
