When did we surrender the streets to the construction companies?

18 May, 2018

• FOR months the area about Cambridge Circus was disrupted by works to “improve the junction”. And it was paved with very expensive looking slabs.

Less than a month after completion they are digging it all up outside the Palace Theatre. They couldn’t plan to build a rabbit hutch.

Meanwhile a few hundred metres north, another site associated with Crossrail, TCR, encroaches daily onto the only existing footpath. “Gotta get the work done…”

Just when did we surrender public streets to private construction companies?
