Will jewel-in-crown hospital cope?
18 January, 2019
• THE NHS faces some enormous challenges, not least in the area covered by Camden and Islington Mental Health Trust.
The jewel in the trust’s crown will be a new 100-bed hospital in the grounds of Whittington Hospital.
This will be a replacement for the acute beds which will go when the old St Pancras buildings are demolished.
The new work will be funded by providing on the St Pancras site a new Moorfields Hospital.
Will these new mental health buildings be robust enough to cope with the increasing demand for their services without decanting patients to NHS or private hospitals somewhere else and at enormous cost?
