You made my Christmas

10 January, 2020

• HAPPY new year to all staff!

Christmas is a time I dread, as I have no friends or family near me.

I’ve suffered numerous bereavements, had to endure Department for Work and Pensions medical assessments in 2019, and then got diagnosed with a new medical condition.

So I was immensely cheered when two lovely young women from the Tribune turned up to present me with a huge food hamper. It was the only thing I had to open over Christmas.

I thank you, and all the readers who donated, from the bottom of my heart. It made me feel part of the festive season. It’s not easy being on your own, and also dealing with serious ill-health.

Tribune Christmas hampers are amazing. Along with tea, coffee and mince pies, there was a huge Christmas pud and some lovely chocolate truffles.
The fig chutney went down very well with cheese.

Thank you so much! On December 31 I received a letter from the DWP. Plus ça change.
